On the 31st of October at Lakhdenpokhya City Municipal Central Library Karelian Resource Center of Non-governmental Organizations (KRC NGOs) with support from The Ministry for National and Regional Politics of the Republic of Karelia opened the 14th Center for Interethnic Cooperation as a part of the "Karelia is a world of ethnic cultures" project.

Executives and representatives of the Ministry for National and Regional Politics of the Republic of Karelia, Lakhdenpokhsky District authorities, NGO delegations, Tajik and Uzbek NGO representatives, and local citizens attended the official opening ceremony.

The idea to establish Centers for Interethnic Cooperation in the Republic of Karelia emerged in 2007. Centers hold seminars on foreign employee attraction and retention, round-table discussions and conferences on international cooperation and migrant workers integration in receiving community. Centers' employees are actively engaged with local and national NGOs in organizing ethnocultural events, meetings with the youth, and exhibitions.

The 14th Center for Interethnic Cooperation in Lakhdenpokhya received various publications on practices in migrant integration and different cultures in the Republic of Karelia, books in national languages, and equipment that will help the Center to operate.

The next upcoming event of the "Karelia is a world of ethnic cultures" project - "Friendship route" - will take place in Kostomuksha on November 15.
