Sport-sanitary event "Ski Trail of Heroes"

On March 16, within the framework of the project “War  to Remember and Not to Repeat,” realized by the “Petrozavodsk ” Foundation with the support of the Russian President’s Grant committee for the development of civil society, the “Ski Trail of Heroes” was held in the city of Pitkärante.

“Ski Trail of Heroes" is a ski trip to the places of military history of Pitkäranta district, in which schoolchildren of Pitkäranta and students of Petrozavodsk State University took part.

The opening of the event were at the Cross of Sorrow, where a solemn meeting was held, and the first signal rocket was launched as a sign of the march’s start. The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Head of the Administration of the Pitkäranta Municipal District, Roman Baranov, the Military Commissar of the Pitkäranta and Olonetsky Districts Ivan Bazankov, the Acting Director of the VF Pitkäran City Local History Museum. Sebina Alina Lozovikova, Deputy Executive Director of the Petrozavodsk Foundation Anastasia Vorobyova.

From the Cross of Sorrow the participants went to the start of the campaign. The next point of the route passed at the monument to the tankers, where were a small game-quest. Young people had to correlate the photographs of the tanks with the remains of the tank tracks. By signal rocket, the participants went to the third point of the route, where they were shown how temporary shelters for Finnish soldiers and Red Army soldiers during the Winter War were built.

At the last point of the march, at the memorial complex "The Valley of Heroes", wreaths of Glory were laid on the mass grave and the march closed. Throughout the route, local historians acquainted the participants with the history of the memorable places along which the route passed, and told the children about the horrors of that Winter War. At the end of the event, young people became acquainted with the history of their native land, walked about 5 km. skiing, tasted the field kitchen and received memorable badges.

Students of Petrozavodsk State University began their acquaintance with the military history of Pitkäranta a day earlier. On Friday, they had a detailed tour of the city museum, where, as part of the project, the museum was given equipment for the exhibition in the amount of about 115,000 rubles. Students also had an excursion to Line U, where in the future is  planned to create a tourist route. Young people inspected the remains of the Finnish fortifications, visited the real bunker of the Great Patriotic War and the highest point of the route with a beautiful view of the lake and the city.

The project “War to remember and not to repeat” is aimed to create  in the Pitkäranta city museum of local lore named after V.F. Sebina is a full-fledged military-historical exposition devoted to the Winter War of 1939-1940 and the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, as well as to the patriotic education of young people of Pitkäranta municipal district and the city of Petrozavodsk through the participation of young people in events designed to help them become more familiar with the military history of their native the edges.

От Креста Скорби участники похода поехали на старт похода. Следующая точка маршрута проходила  у памятника танкистам, где прошла небольшая игра-квест. Молодые люди должны были соотнести фотографии танков с найденными останками танковых гусениц. По сигнальной ракете, участники отправились на третью точку маршрута, где им продемонстрировали, как строились временные укрытия финских солдат и красноармейцев времен Зимней войны.

На последней точке похода, у мемориального комплекса «Долина героев» состоялось возложение венков Славы на братскую могилу и закрытие похода. На протяжении всего маршрута местные краеведы знакомили участников похода с историей памятных мест, по которым проходил маршрут, и рассказывали ребятам события той страшной Зимней войны. По окончании мероприятия молодые люди познакомились с историей родного края, прошли около 5 км. на лыжах, отведали полевую кухню и получили памятные значки.

Студенты Петрозаводского государственного университета начали знакомство с военной историей Питкяранты на день раньше. В пятницу им провели подробную экскурсию по городскому музею, где, в рамках проекта, музею было передано оборудование для экспозиции на сумму около 115 000 рублей. Студентам также провели выездную экскурсию на Линию У, где в дальнейшем планируется создание туристического маршрута. Молодые люди осмотрели остатки финский укреплений, посетили настоящий бункер времен Великой Отечественной войны и наивысшую точку маршрута с которой открывается прекрасный вид на озеро и город.

Проект «Война – помнить и не повторять» нацелен на создание в Питкярантском городском краеведческом музее имени В.Ф. Себина полноценной военно-исторической экспозиции, посвященной Зимней войне 1939-1940 и Великой Отечественной войне 1941-1945 гг, а также на патриотическое воспитание молодежи Питкярантского муниципального района и города Петрозаводска посредством участия молодых людей в мероприятиях, призванных помочь им глубже ознакомиться с военной историей родного края.
