Working meeting on the project "Military aspects in the national culture of Karelia"

A working meeting of the new project "Military Aspects in the National Culture of Karelia" was held on January 25th. It was attended by such people as Yana Zhemoytelyte - the chairman of the Union of Young Writers "Northern Lights", Dmitry Tsvibel - the chairman of the Regional Jewish National Cultural Autonomy, Marat Makhmudyarov - the representative of the Society of Tatar Culture "Chulpan" and Marina Terentyeva - methodologist of the Center for Folk Art and Cultural Initiatives of the Republic of Karelia.

Project Manager Nikolai Oskin described projects of the development of inter-ethnic relations that were previously implemented by KRC NGOs . Project coordinator Ksenia Chumak presented the main tasks and planned activities of the project to the participants of the meeting.

Such issues as organization of round tables in Medvezhyegorsk, Sortavala and Kalevala, the festival of national cultures in Suoyarvi and the visit of a delegation from the Republic of Karelia to the Republic of Tatarstan were discussed during this meeting. The first round table will be held in Medvezhyegorsk in February with the preliminary topic "Poets of Karelia speak about the Great Patriotic War: different nationalities, one war".

The project "Military Aspects in the National Culture of Karelia" is financed within the framework of the grant competition of the Head of the Republic of Karelia. The aim of the project is to promote the strengthening of inter-ethnic relations through the preservation of the historical memory of the military past of the multinational people of the Republic of Karelia as well as the popularization of the military heritage, especially among children and youth.
